Description:
The cool growing conditions of Monterey are ideally suited to producing top-quality Pinot Noir, and some of Estancia's vineyards are up to 36 years old. Up to 5 different clones of Pinot Noir are used. Classic open-top fermenters, as used in Burgundy are utilised followed by 8 months ageing in French oak barrels. The result is a delicious, seductive style of Pinot Noir with excellent varietal character plus nice touch of vanilla.

Description: John Joslin was a farmer in Essex and also had a business in Belgium. Together, with his wife Jennifer, they decided to sell up and cruise the world in their custom built yacht 'Dancing Wave'. They did this for six years before dropping anchor in New Zealand. After one visit to Marlborough the yacht was sold and 20 acres in the heart of the wine growing region was bought. Marlborough was chosen for its international reputation as a premium wine-growing region with one of the longest ripening periods in the world. The vineyard was named 'Le Grys' which was Jennifer's maiden name and planted varieties include Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Finally. a unique Mud block house was built in the vineyard and hence the name of the company was born and in 1996 the first vintage was released. This Pinot Noir from vineyards in Marlborough enjoy a long ripening period and offers lifted aromas of cherries, currants and plums with attractive integrated savoury mushrooms and toasty oak. Description: Named after the late patriarch of the Torres family, it is located in the Russian River/Green Valley, one of Sonoma County's coolest growing regions. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean provides an extended growing season and allows the grapes to develop slowly to full intensity. Yields are low and labour is intensive, but the vines live longer and produce grapes with greater concentration of flavours, more refined and elegant aromas, and better balance. The grapes were harvested with each clone and parcel picked being vinified separately in small stainless steel tanks. After minimal crushing, with about 15% whole clusters, the berries were ''punched down'' for gentle extraction of color and tannin. The wine was aged in French oak barrels then bottled unfiltered. The vineyard's 30 acres of Pinot Noir are planted with five different clones, yielding wines with complex layers of flavor. The Pinot Noir blend included 26% Pommard, 23% Dijon 115, 20% Cristina 88, 18% Swan, 9% Lee, and 4% Dijon The nose is a harmonious blend of the five clones, displaying elegant raspberry/black cherry fruit that is a classic expression of Pinot Noir. The scent of French oak compliments the engaging aromas and adds a hint of cinnamon and spice. On the palate the wine is soft and supple, well balanced and round.
