A pale straw yellow coloured wine with green tints. Complex aromas of fresh peaches, grapefruit rind and cinnamon combine with spicy vanillin oak. Stone fruit and citrus flavours develop on the palate and are enhanced by a creamy texture derived from 6 months of lees stirring. The palate is rich and full bodied with juicy texture and fine acidic balance. Ideal with whites meats, seafood and oysters especially. The name Dog Point dates from the earliest European settlement of Marlborough and the introduction of sheep to the district. These were days of few fences, of boundary riders and boundary keeping dogs. Shepherds’ dogs sometimes became lost or wandered off and eventually bred into a marauding pack which attacked local flocks.
