In the renowned Martinborough Terrace region Palliser Estate has approximately 85 hectares under Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris grape varieties. Palliser Estate have found that even over the relatively small area they cultivate, there are great differences in soil types and climate which all help to add complexity to the wines it crafts. The Pencarrow range is the second wine of Palliser Estate. Under this label Palliser are able to experiment with the grape to develop new wine styles from traditional varietals. A block from the Clouston vineyard is selected for these wines. This has produced a Sauvignon Blanc with a very intense nose of classic herbs and hints of tropical fruits and tamarillo. This white wine is vibrant and fresh with expanding flavours, while the seamless mid-palate is abundent with juicy texture and culminates in an enjoyable finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Additionally, the label on the bottle depicts the landmark lighthouse at Pencarrow Heads situated to the east of Palliser Bay at the entrance to Wellington harbour. An alluring silky-textured Pinot bursting with Plum, Raspberry and black berry aromas followed by spice and mushroom on the nose. It shows all the text book Pinot Noir characters, the palate is equally impressive with ripe fruit characters and silky texture, followed by a lingering finish with fine tannins. The Pencarrow range is the second wine of Palliser Estate. Under this label Palliser are able to experiment with the grape to develop new wine styles from traditional varietals. The wine was fermented in a mixture of American and French oak barrels. It remained on lees in cask for seven months with 10% of the wine spontaneously fermented with wild yeasts. Care in the winery has produced a very attractive nose of ripe stone fruits and floral characters with a hint of sweet oak and creamy notes. The palate shows delicious mouth feel, full of ripe fruits, and is beautifully textured and smooth right to the finish. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £98.03

This SauvignonBlanc comes from the original vineyards planted in 1984 and has vibrant, lifted aromas of passion fruit, green herbs and a hint of stone fruits on the nose. The palate is explosive with succulent fruit characters and excellent mid-palate texture and weight. The refreshing acidity gives clean mouthfeel, and the flavours last and last.
