The black bull silhouette of Osborne's trade mark is as much a symbol of Spain as it is of the major drinks group which began in Puerto de Santa Maria in the 18th century. Today, descendants of Thomas Osborne, a native of Exeter, still control the firm. Osborne began as a sherry house and it still boasts a near unrivalled range of wines. The flagship brand "Fino Quinta" is bottled under nitrogen and screw-capped to preserve its freshness; the rare fino-amontillado "Coquinero" is fuller bodied; Bailen is a true Oloroso, pungent and dry. The ultimate expression of sherry lies in the great solera wines. These are very old sherries drawn off in minute quantities from individual soleras: they are fabulous wines by any standard, winning gold medals whenever they are entered in shows, competitions or challenges. Only few houses successfully combine being both a Sherry and Port shippers. Osborne have been Port producers and shippers for nearly forty years; they bring the same concern for quality and authenticity (6 x 75 cl)

Lustau EAST INDIA SOLERA RESERVA Sherry
Description: In 1896 what is now Emilio Lustau SA was founded by Don Jose Ruiz-Berdejo y Veyan, an original Almacenista at Nuestra Senora de la Esperanza. As an acknowledgement of this heritage Lustau has produced a sherry that is a reflection of the past. In centuries gone by casks of sherry were lashed to ships sailing for the Indies as ballast and as a result they were found to develop an extraordinary smoothness and complexity. This sherry is like Creme Brulee in a bottle, with some nice acidity to balance the rich sweetness. (12 x 75 cl)

Gonzalez Byass MATUSALEM Sweet Oloroso Sherry
Description: Ageing wines from Jerez takes place through the laborious, precise process known as the Criaderas y Solera system. In this process, the younger wines are blended slowly and methodically with other more mature ones. The older wines impart their flavour to the younger ones, while the latter freshen the former due to their youth and strength. Average age of these rare Old Solera sherries is approximately 30 years, 20 aged as vintage sherry and 10 in the solera system. All the grapes are from vineyards owned by González Byass in the Jerez Superior area. A dark Mahogany colour this sherry has reminders of well-ripened fruit, spices and fine wood. Smooth and sweet, while being notably silky, well-balanced and elegant. Available in half bottles. (6 x 37.5 cl)
