Description: In 1994, Anthony Hamilton Russell founded Southern Right Cellars as a Sauvignon and Pinotage specialist. As an early ripening grape, Antony Hamilton Russell and Kevin Grant, the winemaker, are convinced that Pinotage performs best in cooler areas where a longer slower ripening season affords fully developed tannins and greater fruit complexity. The Cellar is named after the rare Southern Right whale which frequents the cool South Atlantic Walker Bay, and each bottle sold Southern Right Cellars makes a contribution to Southern Right whale conservation. Description: Suckfizzle is a small vineyard located at the south-westerly extreme of the Margaret River grape growing region and since the first release in 1997 the Suckfizzle wines have developed a cult following. Here the converging power of the Southern and Indian oceans, provide a cool maritime climate characterised by drenching winter rains and long dry summers cooled by omnipresent sea breezes. In the north-east facing shelter of the Leeuwin Naturaliste Ridge and the Blackwood River, nature provided a unique viticultural mesoclimate for the Suckfizzle wines. Only two wines are made in the small vineyard. The white is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, the percentages a reflection of seasonal fortune.
