Ashbury Grove Cabernet / Petit Verdot South Eastern Australia
Description: This wine is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Petit Verdot displaying a fruit forward style, with a fresh, juicy palate showing a touch of cassis and menthol, finishing with balanced ripe tannins. Ashbury Grove range is made by Kingston Estate, based at Kingston-On-Murray which is approximately 220 km from Adelaide in South Australia. Kingston Estate was founded by Sarantos and Constantina Moularadellis, who developed their 40 acre. Today Kingston Estate is the 10th largest wine producer in Australia and remains one of Australia's largest family-owned wineries. Sourced from vineyards in the Riverland area of South Australia, where Kingston Estate have been developing their vineyards since 1998. Using both rotary and static fermenters, both varieties have been kept separate up until the final stage of blending. The use of controlled temperatures during fermentation and selected yeast strains has ensured maximum flavours are retained and tannin extraction is kept to a minimum..

Windowrie THE MILL Petit Verdot Cowra New South Wales Australia
Description: The Mill Petit Verdot is red black in colour. The wine has aromas of stewed blackberry. The palate is very complex with rich full flavours and aggressive tannins. Best enjoyed with spicy or roast meats this wine should be cellared for at least the next 3 years and up to 10 years. Growing Season Fruit for this wine was sourced from the winery block. Petit Verdot was planted on this block due to its shallow soils allowing total control over vine balance. Management techniques including hand pruning, shoot thinning and restricted irrigation led to a yield of 2 t acre. This variety ripens late and was the last block harvested on the estate in April. Winemaking The fruit for this wine was harvested very ripe and showed intense colour and tannin structure. The Bordeaux red yeast was used and the wine fermented at 20-25ºC. Fermentation took place in open fermentors which were hand plunged 5 times every 24 hours. Having been fermented to approximately 2 Bé before being pressed off skins a portion of the wine underwent oak maturation in 2 and 3 year old American Oak to add complexity and structure.

Kingston Estate ESTATE Petit Verdot South Australia
Description: Kingston Estate Wines has grown rapidly since Sarantos and Constantina Moularadellis first developed their 40 acre vineyard in 1979 in South Australia's Riverland wine region. Today, Kingston is the 10th largest wine producer in Australia and remains one of Australia's largest family-owned wineries. Petit Verdot is a unique red variety that thrives in the warmer regions of Australia, and in particular the Riverland area of South Australia. Originally from the cool Bordeaux region of France, this late harvest variety struggles to ripen in its homeland. However, Kingston Estate has extensive plantings of Petit Verdot growing in selected deep sandy soils on limestone adjacent to the winery where the grapes consequently reach full ripeness and intensity. Great care is taken from the vineyard to the winery where the Petit Verdot grapes were harvested at night and transported to the winery it is then immediately crushed and fermentation begun. On completion of fermentation the wine was matured with French and American oak before final blending and preparation for bottling. The wine is a deep red colour with a bouquet of violets, blueberries, plums and spices reminiscent of a Christmas cake. These flavours continue onto the palate with the spice characters of clove, cinnamon and vanilla well integrated with vibrant cherry fruit flavours. The palate is medium to full bodied with generous fruit and rich tannins. The fruit retains a vibrancy of wild flowers and berry flavours with a wonderful length of flavour. (12 x 75 cl)

Kingston Estate EMINENT Petit Verdot South Eastern Australia
Description: Kingston Estate Wines has grown rapidly since Sarantos and Constantina Moularadellis first developed their 40 acre vineyard in 1979 in South Australia's Riverland wine region. Today, Kingston is the 10th largest wine producer in Australia and remains one of Australia's largest family-owned wineries. Echelon showcases the limited release varietal wines from South Australia, considered by Kingston's winemaker as the pinnacle of each vintage. Only parcels displaying exceptional fruit vibrancy and intensity of flavour make the final selection. Sourced from various South Australian premium regions, the wines are assessed not only for their youthful qualities, but an ability to develop their full potential with further bottle maturation. The Petit Verdot grapes were sourced predominantly from South Australia 's Riverland with a small portion included from the Clare Valley and Langhorne Creek. Petit Verdot is particularly well suited to the Riverland 's warm climate where it ripens fully each year, yet retains lean tannins and good natural acidity. Once harvested only the light pressings were combined with the free run juice to produce this wine. The wines were left to settle for 7-14 days and then 75% was racked to new ,one year old and older American and French oak barrels for 12 months maturation. This is a bright red/purple coloured wine with good depth, while the bouquet is complex with subtle vanillin and spicy oak Characters. Opulent and lingering with intense blueberry and violets layered with spicy oak characters over a silky tannin backbone. It is a seductive wine offering intense sweet berry primary fruit flavours layered with complexity gained from time in oak. Limited Availability. (12 x 75 cl)
