Giacomo Montresor Amarone Classico del FONDATORE Veneto
Description: A blend of 60% Corvina, 30% Rondinella, and 10% Molinara grapes grown on the Montresor estate produces one of the finest wines to come from the Verona area. The grapes are picked in October and are left to dry for four months in the granaries of the estate prior to vinification. The wine is then allowed to age for at least four years in old oak casks in the private cellar of the founder Giacomo Montresor. This full bodied and ultra smooth Amarone is characterized by a deep red colour with pomegranate reflections; an ethereal bouquet reminiscent of peach blossoms, violets, raspberries, and mint; and compound flavours with clear shades of dried grapes. Truly a remarkable wine, of which only 3,000 cases are produced annually, it is best opened for two hours prior to serving at room temperature. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £136.35

Cortegiara RIPASSO Valpolicella Fumane Veneto
Description: The ValpolicellaRipasso is made with 60% Corvina Veronese, 35% Rondinella, and 5% Molinara in the traditional Ripasso technique. The young Valpolicella, made in October, undergoes a second fermentation in November together with grapes that have been lightly dried for two months. This process adds colour, alcohol and depth of flavour to the finished wine. The 2006 has fresh, ripe plums and red cherries fruit with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg on the palate, and is lingering and intense on the finish. It boasts the vibrancy of fresh young Valpolicella fruit but with the intensity and concentration of Amarone. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £57.88
