Chateau La Garde Pessac-Leognan Bordeaux
Description: This will appeal to the traditionalist. Ch. La Garde by name, and vindegarde by nature, reassuringly dense and concentrated, but in good balance with ripe, healthy fruits. Showing some maturity, the fruit is now moving from its youthful notes to a more mature expression of plums and raisins. Classic Graves on the palate with round, mature tannins, ripe fruits and a lovely finish. Château La Garde is a medium-sized property with 47 hectares of vineyards planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. The Cabernet-dominated red wines are soft, well structured and packed with smooth, ripe fruit which makes them very attractive young, though they also possess good medium-term cellaring potential. The wines of Pessac-Léognan have become markedly better over the last ten years largely due to vastly improved viticultural and vinification techniques and a determination and dedication of quality-driven producers to produce the best possible wines. The gravel-rich soils are similar to those found in the Médoc and the red wines possess a distinctive mineral quality which makes them stand out from other clarets. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £259.28

La Cave De Morgex et De La Salle CHAUDE LUNE VINDE GLACE Vallee D'Aosta
Description: The region of Valle d'Aosta has an ancient history of winemaking, even though the steep mountain slopes and harsh, cold climate might suggest otherwise. Historically however, wine production from the region was confined to individual 'backyard vineyards' of usually no more than 2,500 square meters. In 1983, thanks in part to the efforts of the region's local government, these efforts were officially acknowledged and the Cooperative estate, Cave du Vin Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle, was born. This cooperative took control of its newly built winery, well-equipped with all the technology needed to produce high-quality fine wines and began producing the region's traditional wine varieties. The local growers of the co-op are for the most part retired persons who tend their vines as they would a garden, following specific guidelines set up by the cooperative itself. Today the Cave du Vin Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle produces over 140,000 bottles annually of 5 different traditional Valle D'Aosta wines. This unfailing commitment to the Valle D'Aosta wine-making has literally saved the region's history and culture from extinction, making these beautiful wines, and a part of Valle D'Aosta's culture. Available in 50 cl bottles. (12 x 50 cl) Price: £228.72
