Just outside Bonnievale, in the picturesque Robertson Valley, lies Weltevrede, meaning 'Well satisfied' and this is where the Jonker Family Wine Estate and its proud heritage that stretches back over many years is located. Wine has been an integral part of the Jonker family tradition for four generations. It began when Klaas Jonker purchased the farm in 1912 and planted the first vineyards in the area. Followed by Japie Jonker, who in 1933 began wine farming on Weltevrede it is today, carried on by current owner Lourens Jonker and his son Philip. From vines rooted in solid rock a solid wine is born. Weltevrede Bedrock Black Syrah is an inky, rich wine dominated by flavours of plums and dark fruit. (6 x 75 cl)
