Description: Bear Crossing Chardonnay is a brilliant straw gold hue. The wine has ripe peach, melon and tropical fruit characters on the nose that follow through on to the palate. The acid is crisp and refreshing, with creamy malo characters giving good length and mouth-feel on a background of restrained oak vanilla and cash- ews.Grown on gently undulating red sandy soils in Angove™s own Nanya vineyards in South Australia this chardonnay was har- vested at night to preserve fresh fruit characters. Parcels of fruit were allocated to a range of vinification methods, with some having skin contact prior to barrel ferment and ageing sur-lie while other parcels were slowly cold-fermented in stainless steel. Barrel fermentation, extended lees maturation, bâton- nage and a small percentage of malolactic fermentation add further layers of depth, creaminess and complexity, without dominating the fresh fruit and crisp dry finish. Angove's BEAR CROSSING Australian Cabernet Merlot
Description: The wine is a deep plum red with garnet hues. The nose has loads of plum, cherry and spice aromas with hints of chocolate and smoky cedar. On the palate plums, mulberries and spicy tobacco leaf flavours are interwoven with toasty, vanillan oak. The plush velvet tan- nins of the Merlot support the fruit and give persistence of fla- vour in the mouth. This is an easy to drink wine that will marry well with food.Warm, ripe luscious fruit is the driving force behind this wine. The excellent vintage conditions of 2001 allowed full develop- ment of flavour ripeness in Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. This has been preserved in the wine by careful control of harvest and ferment conditions. After maturation, individual parcels of wine were blended to produce a medium bodied style with layers of flavour and well integrated oak support. (12 x 75 cl)

Mount Difficulty Pinot Noir Central Otago NZ
Description: The grapes that make up this wine come from Pipeclay Terrace, Target Gully, Mansons Farm and Long Gully Vineyards. The majority of the vines are trained on a hanging cane system, which helps to expose the fruit to sunshine. The canopy was intensively managed during the growing season to help the vine achieve balance as well as exposing fruit so that flavours develop to their maximum potential. The open canopy also reduces the risk of disease meaning that we use no fungicides, pesticides or insecticides. All of the grapes are hand harvested. The grapes are destemmed only and not crushed to retain some whole berries in the must, with 25% of ferments undergoing some whole cluster trials. The ferments underwent 3 (12 x 75 cl)

Alphonse Mellot EN GRAND CHAMPS Rouge Sancerre
Description: At the beginning of the nineteenth century, Alphonse Mellot founded a tavern in Sancerre where one could savour the local wines and so began a flourishing trade that was to continue. In 1881 he was granted a licence to ship his wine throughout France and all over the World. This marked the beginning of a pacific conquest which has been pursued and developed by the family business from father to son ever since, with the eldest son continuing to bear the name of the Founder Alphonse. Today, the old winemaking tradition is perpetuated by Alphonse Mellot, father and son, the 18th and 19th to bear the name. The grapes are picked by hand in small 25 Kg boxes then put onto a vibrating table and followed by a sorting table, here, the grapes will be sorted, stemmed and transported into the wine vats by conveyor belt. It is then fermented in 45 hl truncated wooden vats and aged in new casks for 14 months on average. En Grands Champs has been produced for 62 years on a small 1 hectare parcel of land. Beautiful deep crimson coloured wine with dark fruit aromas; the flavours of mulberries, morello cherries and pink peppercorns melt into long lasting silky tannins. Limited Availability.
