Made from grapes harvested off of old bush vines growing in the sand since 1946 is displaying wonderful terroir character. Big, rich tannic wine with aromas like spiced mullled fruit and good balancing sweet oak, the thick, rich palate has vey good mid-palate fruit earth tones leading to a long finish.' 'Old shiraz vines create this complex and opulent wine, with flavours of white, black and green peppercorns, mulberry and boysenberry, with notes of peaty-earthiness along with spices and herbs of thyme and sage.' Once in the winery this wine spent 18 months in one and two year old French oak barriques with the Shiraz barrel fermentation took place in new French barriques. 'A blend inspired by the opera term for an improvised personal expression at the end of an Aria, this blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre blends together the array of flavours and terroirs of the estate, as well as being driven to create a common name for Grenache blends that are unique to the McLarenVale appellation.
