Description:
John Joslin was a farmer in Essex and also had a business in Belgium. Together, with his wife Jennifer, they decided to sell up and cruise the world in their custom built yacht 'Dancing Wave'.
They did this for six years before dropping anchor in New Zealand. After one visit to Marlborough the yacht was sold and 20 acres in the heart of the wine growing region was bought.
Marlborough was chosen for its international reputation as a premium wine-growing region with one of the longest ripening periods in the world. The vineyard was named 'Le Grys' which was Jennifer's maiden name and planted varieties include Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Finally. a unique Mud block house was built in the vineyard and hence the name of the company was born and in 1996 the first vintage was released.
This Pinot Noir from vineyards in Marlborough enjoy a long ripening period and offers lifted aromas of cherries, currants and plums with attractive integrated savoury mushrooms and toasty oak. Using a mixture of new and old French oak, results in a soft full palate with cherry notes, red current and plum.
